This policy reflects ClearSail's criteria for identifying known objectionable Internet material. The general criteria to block or filter websites are listed below.

FILTERING POLICY & CATEGORIES

PORNOGRAPHY: Website content containing nudity, sex, erotic material or literature, sexual acts, sexual advice, adult chat, modeling agencies, massage parlors, escort services, swingers, or adult verification sites supporting these categories. Exceptions: Main-stream media accounts of sex crimes, or clinical content dealing with health, disease prevention, and treatment.
DATING SERVICES / PERSONALS: Website content containing advertisement or solicitation of persons wishing to meet others, personal advertisements, dating services, or mail order brides.
CHAT & MESSAGE BOARDS: Website content containing chat rooms, forums, discussion groups, IRC, ICQ, or message boards. Exceptions: Chat and message board websites that utilize an acceptable method of security to prevent persons from posting vulgar language or photographs.
MILD NUDITY: Websites containing mild nudity, such as bikinis, thongs, body building, or lingerie.
SEX EDUCATION: Websites containing clinical sex ed (non-explicit photographs or illustrations).
ALCOHOL / TOBACCO / DRUGS: Website content containing the promotion, use, or sales of alcohol (beer, wine, liquor), tobacco products, or the promotion of illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, legalization of a current illegal drug, or misuse of a controlled substance.
OCCULT: Website content containing satanic worship, witchcraft, animal or human sacrifice, voodoo, tarot cards, palm reading, or fortune telling.
ADULT HUMOR: Website content containing adult humor or jokes.
GAMBLING: Websites containing gaming, gambling, wagering, or any monetary game of chance.
HACKING: Website content containing information on how to use equipment, programs, or techniques to gain entry into a computer system or network without the knowledge or consent of the owner of the computer system or network.
CRIME: Website content containing information on encouragement, advice, or glorification on carrying out any criminal act; graphic depiction of violent acts including murder, rape, torture, injury, or property destruction. Exceptions: Main-stream media accounts of crimes.
MILITANCY: Website content containing information and promotion of militia, terrorist, anti-government extremists, or rebellion groups.
HATE & DISCRIMINATION: Websites containing information denigration of race, religion, gender, nationality, or sexual orientation. Exceptions: Occult websites shall not be considered a religion.
VIOLENT SPORTS: Website content containing information on wrestling, roller derby, or other sport where such sport is designed to create injury to persons.
TASTELESSNESS: Website content containing information on bad language, excretory functions, graphic medical photos, human or animal abuse or mutilation, or extreme forms of body modification (cutting, branding, tattooing, or bizarre body piercing).
WEAPONS: Website content containing information on guns, pistols, shotguns, rifles, arrows, clubs, brass knuckles, marshal art weapons, bombs, grenades, or explosives.

HOW CLEARSAIL FILTERS:

ClearSail offers an advanced filtering solution that affords Parents, Business Owners, Educators, Librarians, and Others peace-of-mind in regards to unauthorized persons accessing objectionable material on the Internet. Identifying and examining the thousands of websites that go online everyday is the top priority of ClearSail's filtering solution.

ClearSail uses a variety of techniques to manage its filtering database. The filtering service employs state-of-the-art web-crawlers to continuously "browse" the Internet. This process identifies thousands of suspect sites every day, helping to find new websites to filter and to discover changes to existing sites.

Thousands of new websites are identified and blocked each day. Our comprehensive filtering solution includes (1) the block list of known URL's, (2) blocking of known pornographic hosting services, (3) blocking of certain keywords, and (4) blocking of certain words in the url. There are MILLIONS of undesirable websites blocked as a result of ClearSail's intense filtering capability. Free webhosting services are also blocked until ClearSail receives a request by a customer to review certain pages because of the vast amount of objectionable materials available from most of these firms. Additionally, newsgroups are all together blocked because of the uncontrollable amount of pornography contained within them. And ClearSail's filtering cannot be turned-off or erased, except by authorized users utilizing a preassigned bypass code (optional).

WHAT CLEARSAIL DOES NOT FILTER:

ClearSail does not filter political opinions, involve itself in boycotts, or competitive services. ClearSail provides filtering of known websites which ClearSail, in its sole discretion, determines to meet the criteria of the Filtering Policy. ClearSail provides, if desired, the owner (adult) of the ClearSail account with an parental / administrative bypass to the filtering process.
