 | | NEW USERS GENERAL RULES: All customers of ClearSail / Family.NET must agree to abide by the Terms of Service (TOS). The TOS is for both our Customers
and ClearSail's protection. ClearSail / Family.NET wants you to have a safe and enjoyable Internet experience! VIRUS & SPYWARE PROTECTION:
              ClearSail
              / Family.NET
strongly recommends that you subscribe to Norton Anti-Virus Software
and run the program on your computer. Norton can be purchased on-line,
or at most computer and office supply stores. It is also recommended
that you have a anti-spyware program. Programs such as Ad Aware
or Spy Sweeper are available for free download. HYPERLINKS: Hyperlinks
are shown as text that is underlined.
Any text that is underlined is USUALLY a hyperlink. If clicked,
it will take you to the linked website or page within a website.
An example of a hyperlink is in the above paragraph where "Terms
of Service" is underlined. When this is pressed, it will take
you to the TOS page for your review. Once you have visited a link,
the hyperlink text will usually change color indicating that you
have already reviewed the website. PASSWORDS: There
were several passwords assigned to your account during your original
setup. (1) The password used to make changes or request information
on your account; (2) The Internet logon/user name password; and
              (3) your filtering bypass password (which is optional). You must
remember these passwords to properly operate your account. In the
event a password is lost, overheard, or stolen, it must be changed.
Passwords should never be given to anyone outside your household,
or if a business, anyone outside the firm. Distribution of passwords
to any person or firm that is not a customer of ClearSail
              / Family.NET
is a violation of the TOS. eMAIL ADDRESS and SECURITY:
Your eMail address is all in lower-case spelling. (i.e. John Doe
              = jdoe@clearsail.net) This eMail
address links you to anyone using the Internet
around the world. NOTE: eMail addresses are collected by companies
trying to sell you goods and/or
services just like the "junk" mail that comes to your
home. Be very selective to whom
you give your address. Also, avoid giving eMail addresses of your
friends to any business, unless you know that they will not use
the addresses for other purposes, such as spamming. The term "spam"
or "spamming" means companies that market by mass unwanted
eMail. Any time you order a
product, the company receiving the order is going to know your eMail
              address; however, unwanted eMail
solicitations may come. This can be greatly avoided by the customer
               hesitating a moment before they
              enter the address. Additionally, those
companies that eMail you that you've done business with can be easily
notified to stop by: opening your eMail
document, and clicking the "reply" button, then type "REMOVE"
              in the subject line. However,
if you have not given the sender your email, we recommend that you
not respond. If you have a serious problem with a spammer, please
              eMail abuse@clearsail.net
and we will attempt to block them from our eMail servers. Also, eMail addresses and websites in this country have a designation on the end of ".com" (a business), ".net" (a network), ".org" (an organization [non-profit]), ".edu" (a school), and ".gov" (the government). Additional designations such as "uk" is registered in the United Kingdom. Make sure that you specify this designation correctly when obtaining a website or eMailing. Checking your eMail: Most customers check their
              eMail through their web browser.
This is done by clicking your mail button, and the browser can
automatically send your name and password for access. However, if
you using a computer that is
              not connected to ClearSail
              / Family.NET,
but through another service, such as a computer at your work, a
friend out of town, or at the library, you
can still access your eMail. This is done by entering "www.clearsail.net"
              and clicking the eMail button
on the page. Just enter your user name and
password for access. FREE eMAIL SERVICES: FREE Internet eMail Services: WARNING! There are many "free" eMail services that are offered on the Internet. Nothing in life is "free." These free services rely on collecting your name and then sending you spam. Additionally, they can collect the eMail addresses of those friends and business associates that you eMail to, so they can spam them. And, almost all "free" eMail companies send an advertisement along inside your eMail to your party. This is similar to the postman opening a letter from you and inserting an ad before it gets to the addressee. It is considered highly unprofessional in the business
world to include advertisements within an eMail. ClearSail / Family.NET blocks access to known free eMail sites (which parents and administrators can bypass) because children use these free eMail addresses to gain entry into adult pornography
sites (adult verification) without parental consent. PARENTS, WARN YOUR CHILDREN! ClearSail wants your kids to have a safe, educational, and entertaining Internet experience. We would strongly advise parents to warn their children of these simple rules:
Never disclose your name, address, or telephone number, unless you know the party that's receiving the information.Never discuss when you are away from your home or on vacation.Never make threats to anyone, even joking, about bombs, guns, computer hacking, computer viruses, etc.Do not give out friends eMail address to any business (they will likely go on a spam list).Do not attempt to obtain a parental bypass password
from ClearSail. How to Set Your Internet Browser Screen Resolution to 800 x 600 Pixels (click on the hyperlink) The Internet is designed for an 800 x 600 pixel screen resolution (or larger). If your viewing area is set to 600 x 480 pixels, your viewing will be impaired. If you need additional eMail addresses,
              ClearSail
              / Family.NET
will provide them for you free of charge for your family. eMail
              support@clearsail.net
